Obituary (NJ): Raymond Francis Pavia '54

Raymond Francis Pavia, age 87, of Beach Haven Park passed away on Saturday February 24, 2018 at Southern Ocean Center, Manahawkin. Born in Manhattan and formerly of Staten Island, he was a weekend and summer resident of Long Beach Island from 1978 until moving there permanently in 2012. Raymond served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War, spending time in the Far East, Mediterranean and Caribbean. Mr. Pavia was a 1954 graduate from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science, he went on to become a Columbia University graduate, receiving his Bachelor of Architecture in 1962 and Master of Architecture in 1975. Raymond had worked for CUNY schools in the New York area from 1969 until his retirement as Dean of Administration in 1996. He was a parishioner of St. Francis Parish, Brant Beach and a member of Spray Beach Yacht Club, in his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, traveling, home carpentry projects, and sailing.

Mr. Pavia is survived by his wife of 61 ½ years JoAnne (nee Adams), three children, Mark and his wife Barbara of Staten Island, Eugene and his wife Jane of Anchorage, AK, and Clare and her husband John of Juneau, AK, along with eight grandchildren.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday March 3rd, 2018 from 11:30am until the time of the Funeral Liturgy at Noon at St. Thomas Aquinas, Beach Haven. Cremation was private and under the direction of Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, Ship Bottom. In lieu of flowers his family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity in his memory.
