CAPT Gary Storm '68, USN (Ret.)

'60's Classes; 1968 Class president

Captain Gary Storm was born in Fullerton, CA in October 1946. He reported to the Naval Academy in 1964 for induction with the Class of 1968.

Captain Storm spent 30 years on active duty in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officers. His numerous sea duty tours included the service in USS McCloy (DE-1038); USS Beacon (PG-99); USS Miller (FF-1091) on the Commissioning crew; Combat Systems/Material Officer on the Staff of Commander Destroyer Squadron Two; USS Saratoga as Chief Engineer; USS Bigalow (DD942); Chief Staff Officer on the Staff of Commander Destroyer Squadron Fourteen; as Commanding Officer, USS Aubrey Fitch (FFG-34) and as Commanding Officer, USS Ticonderoga (CG-47).

Ashore, Captain Storm served as the US Navy Exchange Officer to the Royal Naval Engineering College in Plymouth, England as a lecturer in Mechanics and Physics. Captain Storm also served on the Staff of the Chief of Naval Operations as the AEGIS Cruiser and Destroyer Program/Budget Coordinator, as Head of Electronic Combat and Cryptology and as Deputy Director of the Surface Combat Systems Division on OP-03. He also served as the Chairman of NATO Project Group 35, responsible for multinational development of UAVs for Surface Combatants. Captain Storm also served at the US Naval Academy as the Director, Division of Professional Development and completed his active duty as Commander, Aegis Training and Readiness Command.

Captain Storm earned a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, graduating with Distinction at the Naval Postgraduate School.

Upon retiring from active duty, Captain Storm worked for Lockheed Martin Corporation first as Director; Navy Sea Based Missile Defense and Coast Guard Programs in Washington Operations, then as Director of Business Integration. He was then promoted to Director, Strategic Development and Planning. After two years, Captain Storm was then appointed as Vice President, International Business Development at LM Maritime Systems and Sensors.

Captain Storm retired in February 2011 and resides in Annapolis, MD.
