Robert "Bob" Arthur Schaefer  (NOVEMBER 3, 1941 – MARCH 8, 2019)

Robert Arthur Schaefer was born to Mary Elizabeth Glaub and Julius Arthur Schaefer November 3, 1941. He had two brothers: Bill (Jeri) Schaefer of Steubenville, Ohio and Steve (Susie) Schaefer of Carmel, Indiana. He was raised in Steubenville, Ohio where he played the tuba in the “Big Red” marching band until the football coach noticed the big guy and recruited him to play football against Mother Mary’s wishes. Upon graduation from Steubenville High he was appointed to the United States Naval Academy. While playing defensive end for Navy it was discovered he had Raynaud’s Disease, which excluded him from serving in the Navy. After graduating from Navy, Bob joined the CIA for 1-½ years. Bob began working for Raytheon in December 1965 and retired over 42 years later as Senior Finance Manager. Bob married Ellen Franklin Fuller (Sissy) September 21, 1963. They raised Robert “Scott”, born May 30, 1964, and Elizabeth Michelle, born July 25, 1967 in Washington DC and Richardson, Texas. After their divorce in 1977 Bob married Julie Ann Eakes on September 29, 1978 and they raised Brandy Kathryn, born January 17, 1981 in Richardson, Texas. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Julie; son Scott and Barbie Schaefer of Austin, Texas; daughters Elizabeth and David Miller of Aspen, CO and Brandy Schaefer of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Corey, Christina, Allysa, Valerie and Quentin Schaefer; Mackenzie and Molly Miller. “My Dad, my hero! He was too good to be true! The nicest person you’ve ever met. Integrity was his middle name! Loyal to the core. You knew one thing for sure, that if my dad said he was going to do something he would do it with no questions asked. Not a sick day in his life. My dad was immortal in my world. He was avid about golf, tennis, and working out at the gym. He gave back to his community, was active in his church and loved his family most of all. I am blessed to have had Pappy boy as my dad! I will miss him every day.” - Elizabeth Miller. Bob loved and was most proud of his family first with a close second to the Naval Academy and Navy football. Bob will also be missed by: his tennis and golf buddies, his Naval Academy classmates, the Cottonwood Creek Community, Christ United Methodist Church, Raytheon friends and many more.
