Syd Allen Darwin Jr. (July 18, 1941 – January 10, 2019)
Syd Allen Darwin, Jr., 77, passed away January 10, 2019 at an area hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Syd was veteran of the United States Navy and attended the Naval Academy in Annapolis. He was of the Methodist faith. Syd was a member of numerous clubs, most notably the Chattanooga Rifle Club and the Chattanooga Coin Club. He was employed with Vincenting Company for many years until his retirement. Syd was preceded in death by his son, Robert Allen Darwin, and his parents, Syd Allen Darwin, Sr., and Martha Little Darwin. Left behind to cherish Syd's memory are his brother, Richard B. Darwin, and his wife, Phyllis, of East Ridge, sister, Ann Schneider and her husband, William, of Barnhardt, MO., nephews, Rick Darwin, and his wife, Celina, Scott Darwin, both of Chattanooga, Philip Darwin and his wife Leanne, Dallas, GA., Michael Schneider, and niece, Dr. Stephanie Schneider, both of St. Louis, MO., and a special friend, Lorraine Waller, East Ridge. A Celebration of Syd's Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Sunday January 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Jeremy Lambert officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 3 to 6 p.m. He will be laid to rest with his son in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
