Joseph "Peter" Doughan, 87, of Independence Drive died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at St. Ann's Healthcare in Dover.
Born March 12, 1931 in New Haven, Conn., the son of Joseph T. and Alice (Blondin) Doughan. Peter was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, class of 1952, and went on to serve in the Navy during Korea on transport vessels and later on Submarines. He went on to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 28 years in the PERA department and retired as a GS14.
Prior to moving to Dover in 2001, Peter lived in Portsmouth, N.H. for 40 years.
Peter loved all sports and was an avid reader. He and his wife traveled all over until he found Ireland. They spent many good years vacationing in Ireland.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edwina "Winn" Doughan of Dover; children, Corine of Vermont, Patrick Doughan and his significant other Denise of Newmarket, Bridget Page and her husband Scott of Barrington and David Doughan and his wife Sana of New York; grandchildren, Ann, Blaine, Dylan and Kelsey; and three great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, James Doughan.
Peter will be interned at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
