Obituary (VA): John Frank Tulodieski Jr. '61

John Frank Tulodieski Jr, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Norfolk with his wife and children by his side on January 12, 2018.

John grew up in Trenton N.J. and met the love of his life while attending the United States Naval Academy, which he graduated from in 1961. He had a long military career serving on the USS Sea Poacher as weapons manager, USS Theodore Roosevelt as weapons officer, weapons officer for Commander Submarine Squadron Sixteen, Navigator/operation officer on the USS Cutlass and instructor at Fleet Training Center. He retired in 1979 and then worked for the Government in Naval Warfare consulting. He was a member of the USS Sea Poacher SS 406 Association and served as athletic director at St. Pius X School.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved the beach, fishing and his family. Son of the late John F. Tulodieski Sr. and the late Bertha Treptow Tulodieski.

Left behind is his wife of 56 years Elizabeth Doncaster Tulodieski, daughter, June Luck and husband Jim, son, John F. Tulodieski III, son /roommate David J. Tulodieski, daughter, Elizabeth Shoen and husband Darren, daughter, Deborah Cocherell and late husband Jimmie “Bud” Cocherell. Best friend Freckles.

Grandchildren: Jimmy, Joey, Jason, Johnny, Joshua, Justine, Eric, Lauren, Dennis, Courtney, Dylan, Ben, Sarah, and Emma.

Great grandchildren: Zelda, Tina, Ethan, Jackson, Isaac, Isabella, James, Charlotte and Jacob

The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Halprin Drive, Norfolk, Friday January 19th at 11:00 am. Reverend Father Nixon Negparanon will officiate. Family and friends will gather at their home after mass where he will receive full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
