Nina "Dolly" Batzel, 80, passed away on Sept. 19, 2018. She was born in Grottoes, VA to the late Gray and Charlotte Messersmith. Dolly is also predeceased by her sister, Julia Harmon.
Dolly graduated from Madison College and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Dolly was the consummate Navy wife who supported Tom with pride and sacrifice in his service to our country. She loved sharing time with her family and took immense joy in being with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 55 years, Capt. Thomas J. Batzel, USN (ret); her sons, John & Donna Batzel and Mark & Kathy Batzel; five grandchildren, Audrey, Ben, Natalie, Thomas and Adam; three sisters, Betty & Gardner Jones, Charlotte & Joe Brown and Eva & Ronnie Garber; her brother-in-law, Bob Harmon; her cousin, Doug Leach; along with extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel with a a visitation one hour prior.
She will be inurned at the Columbarium of the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD at a later date. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com
