forging Tradition One Ring at a Time

The Bonds of Gold ceremony is an annual event including members of the youngster class and their Another Link in the Chain 50-year counterparts. The 50-year class gathers rings from their classmates to donate to the youngster class in a solemn and moving ceremony honoring the ring donors and their accomplishments. The gold from the older rings is then melted down and added to the youngster rings to create an actual Bond of Gold, linking the classes in perpetuity. The ceremony beautifully highlights the importance of tradition and values at the U.S. Naval Academy and the endurance of strength and camaraderie.
