Obituary (CO): James Perry Wolfe '62

Posted on 07/18/2018

James Perry Wolfe  (December 04, 1940 - June 24, 2018)

Deacon James “Jim” Perry Wolfe passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 24, 2018. He was 77 years old.

Jim was born December 4, 1940 in Colorado Springs, CO. His parents, John Allen Wolfe and Ellen Louise Perry, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy, three children, Andrew, Ann (Greg) Johnston and Laura (Mark) Burford, along with 11 grandchildren, and his sister, Cynthia Burke.

A lifelong, 4th generation resident of Colorado, Jim loved the outdoors. He spent several summers in the 1950’s working with his family as they owned and operated Jack Creek Ranch, a tourist ranch near Rand, CO. Though Jim was able to travel to many different places around the world, Jack Creek Ranch remained his favorite.

Jim proudly served his country for four years as a member of the United States Navy.

Jim attended Colorado School of Mines and then graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Accounting. He spent several years with Arthur Young prior to creating his own accounting firm that he ran for over 20 years.

Central to Jim’s life was his faith and his family. Jim and Judy married on August 31, 1963 at All Souls Catholic Parish in Englewood, CO. Together they have created a lasting legacy of 3 children and 11 grandchildren. He adored and spoke often of his grandchildren, Megan, Sarah, Nathaniel, Samuel and Clare Johnston and Luke, Jack, Madeleine, James, Annamarie and Frank Burford. As a Deacon, Jim was overjoyed that he was able to perform the Sacrament of Baptism for several of his grandchildren.

Jim was ordained a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church on June 12, 2004 by Archbishop Charles Chaput and served in this capacity at Immaculate Conception Parish in Lafayette, CO through 2018. Jim spent countless hours and touched the lives of hundreds of people while serving the community as both Deacon and Religious Education Director. Jim was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Prior to his ordination, Jim served the Sacred Heart of Mary Parish in Boulder, CO for over 20 years. During this time he served as an Acolyte, Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist, Marriage Encounter leader and served on the Parish Council. Additionally, he started Pro-Life ministries and volunteered with the Food Banks at both parishes. Jim always felt blessed to be called to the ministry and treated all of his work as a labor of love to the Lord and those he served.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Parish, 715 Cabrini Dr., Lafayette, CO 80026. This will be preceded by a Rosary at 12:00 PM.

Memorial Donations in memory of Jim may be made to American Cancer Society.
