Obituary (OH): Thomas Roger Case '61

Thomas R. Case Sr.

Thomas R. Case Sr., 80, of Maumee, OH, passed away peacefully at his home on July 3rd, with his family by his side. He was born June 19, 1938 to Ocla Belle and Frank Case here in Toledo. Tom was a 1956 graduate of Libbey High School. He attended University of Toledo for one year, where he was on the student senate and a member of SAE Fraternity. Following his year at UT he was appointed to the US Naval Academy and graduated in 1961. He entered naval flight training in Pensacola, FL and was named student of the year. The next four years he was stationed in Brunswick, ME and the following two years was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C.

Tom joined Toledo Scale Control Systems in 1967; Reliance Electric in 1976 in Industry Marketing and was also Director of two trade associations; Senior Sales Engineer for Dodge Manufacturing in 1986 until his retirement in 2001. While at Dodge, he was named Manufacturing Sales Rep of the Year.

Tom was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he taught Catechism, served as church treasurer and President of Church Council. He was secretary of the Toledo Scale Golf League for 25 years. Tom was a member of Toledo Fort Industry Masonic Lodge No. 144 and American Legion Post 132. He was Director of the Lake Pleasant Indiana Homeowners Association for 30 years. Tom loved boating, his cottage, and spending time there with his family and friends.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Carol; children Cathy (Bob) Nusbaum, Tom Jr. (Dawn) and Steve (Julie) Case; grandchildren, Becca (Kat) Donovan, Matt, Nick and Gina Case, Max and Maren Case; great-grandson, Leo Donovan; sister, Sue Case Mills; his dear niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Linda Case Emerson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8th at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, OH, from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday beginning at 10 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1853 South Avenue, Toledo. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
