Obituary (FL): David Burton Dunn '62

David Burton Dunn  (APRIL 7, 1938 – JULY 9, 2018)

David Burton Dunn, aged 80, passed away on July 9, 2018 in the care of his loving wife Diane and Vitas Hospice.

David was born in Pittsford, New York on April 7, 1938, to parents Berthe Jacot and Burton Dunn.

David grew up in Romulus, New York and graduated high school in 1956. He was appointed by the Secretary of the Navy to the Naval Academy in Maryland. He was enlisted in the Navy 1956-1960.

After the Navy David met his wife at a roller skating rink and has been going round ever since. They were married in November 1961 and shared 57 years of marriage.

During the course of David’s life he had many jobs that gave him knowledge and experience in his field of electronics. He became a professor and taught at a trade school in New York. In 1978-1979 he was a contractor for Grumman and taught Iranian military the workings of the computer on aircraft.

In coming home from Iran he lived in Port Chester for 22 years. In 2001 he retired and moved to Palm Bay, Florida.

During retirement Dave enjoyed traveling the seas and seeing the world. We saw the Caribbean, Rome, Italy, Holland, Hawaii and many day trips were taken. His hobbies were reading math books, solving problems for short cuts, chess, sailing, wrestling and martial arts. He also enjoyed reading his bible every day.

Davis is predeceased by his parents and in-laws. He is survived by his wife Diane and will be dearly missed. Survived by brother Edward Dunn (Linda) of Rochester, New York, niece Karen Clendenin (Jamie) of Baltimore, Maryland, nephew Steven Dunn (Lisa) of Portland, Oregon and three great nieces Quincey, Delaney and Felicity. Also survived by sister-in-law Kathyrne Milliken (Walter) of Port Chester, New York, two nieces, Valerie Melone (Nick) of Port Chester, New York, Lesley Byrnes (John) of Tarrytown, New York, two great nephews Peter 12, Luke 5 and one great niece Kathyrn 5.

A special thank you for all the staff at Vitas for the loving care they gave David; his aides Keron, Carmen, Laytoya and a special thank you for his nurse Natale for her loving support.

The memorial service will be held at Fountainhead Funeral Home on August 1, 2018 at 1:00 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to Brevard Alzheimer Organization or SPCA or charity of your choice.
