Rita Marie Bain of Richmond Texas, formerly of Annapolis Maryland passed away on June 27, 2018 from complications of heart disease. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School (in Annapolis) and Annapolis High School. She worked at Columbia Jewelry until her marriage, in 1951. Rita was a member of St. Mary's Parish for 60 years of her life. She is a past-President of the Heritage Harbour Women's Club. Rita loved travel, Mah Jongg, bridge, reading, and family. She was an avid collector of owl figurines. Rita was married for nearly 50 years to the love of her life Cdr. Edwin Bain Jr.(USN) until his passing in 2001. She is survived by her three children Edwin Bain III of Katy, TX, Robert (Bruce) Bain and Beth McAllister both of Glen Burnie. She is also survived by her siblings, James Dougherty, Margaret (Betty) Schmitt, and Shirley Tuers. Rita has eight grandchildren: Cassandra Marx, Robert Bain Jr, Randy Matthew Jones, Katherine Bain, Randy Michael Jones, Elizabeth Nelson, Kathleen Ramos, and Edwin J Jones, and seven great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by in death by siblings, Lucille Bounelis, Edward Dougherty and Harvey Dougherty. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Glouchester St. in Annapolis at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday July 21, 2018. A reception lunch will follow. There will be a private inurnment for Rita at the USNA Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the American Heart Association.
