Edwin C. "Ed" Nelson, 79, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018, in the Excela Westmoreland Hospital. He was born May 29, 1939, in Dunkirk, N.Y., and was the son of the late Ray and Aslaug Paulsen Nelson. Ed was a graduate of the Naval Academy and received his master's degree from Syracuse University. He had served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He had been a member of the Maplewood United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed his traveling, fine dining and good wine. He also liked working with computers and genealogy and was an avid reader and stamp collector. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Fry, and children, Richard D. (Marjorie) Nelson, Amy Nelson Miller, Scott Edwin Nelson and Kristen (Andrew) Wooster, Cory and Brenan Ramler; his seven grandchildren, Chelsea and Madelyn Miller and Caden, Piper, Quinn, Fletcher and Theodore Nelson.
Family and friends will be received from 1 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, followed by a funeral service with the Rev. Dr. Thomas F. St. Clair officiating.
