Obituary (LA): Edgar Wilfred Jatho Jr. '72

Edgar W. Jatho, Jr. "Big Ed", passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the age of 69. Born May 29, 1948 to the late Edgar W. Jatho, Sr. and Ethel Barthe Jatho. He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Sharon Skrmetta Jatho; his children: Jennifer Jatho Cross (Ernest), Robert L. Rollan, Edgar W. Jatho, III (Gwen), and Adam J. Jatho; his stepchildren: Tiffany Reeves Burke (Scott), Travis D. Reeves (Tricia), and John Michael Vaughn (Courtney); and his grandchildren: Anna Lentini, Jacob Rollan, Logan Reeves, Chase Rollan, Julia Burke, Dylan Reeves, Paul Burke, Caleb Edgar Jatho, and Joshua Jatho. He was also survived by his siblings, Norwood E. Jatho, Sr. (Glenda) and Barbara Patenotte, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar W. Jatho, Sr. and Ethel Barthe Jatho; his daughter-in-law, Valerie Rollan; and his sister-in-law, Marguerite Daroca. Edgar was a 1966 graduate of East Jefferson High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps shortly after graduating. He was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy where he graduated in 1972. He was commissioned as a U.S. Marine Corps officer and flew CH 46 helicopters for 12 years. He worked for many years as a financial consultant with several firms and was the founder of the Computer Emergency Room in Metairie. Edgar was a dedicated member of Church of the King in Mandeville, LA and the Crescent City Stamp Club. He also was a 32° Mason and a Shriner. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation at www.npcf.us.
