Rev. Edwin D. Jr. of Hingham, formerly of Dorchester, died May 1, 2018. Beloved son of the late Edwin D. and Eleanor (Connelly) Condon. Loving brother of Dr. Robert M. Condon and his wife Joan of Weymouth. Uncle of Robert M. Condon and his wife Sheila of Bridgewater, John V. Condon of Carver, Daniel E. Condon and his wife Elizabeth of Weymouth, Kristin Russo and her husband Dr. Joseph Russo of North Scituate, RI and Laura McCarthy and her husband Scott of Brockton, and a beloved cousin and godchild, Patricia M. Condon of Braintree. Also survived by seven grandnephews and seven grandnieces.
Ordained a priest on February 2, 1961 he had assignments to St. Joseph's Parish in East Pepperell, St. Mary's Parish in Lynn, and St. Catherine's Parish in Somerville. He served on active duty as Chaplain, U.S. Navy from 1975 until 1999. Upon retirement, he served as Pastor, St. Denis, Westwood and then as Interim Regional Vicar for the South Region and also upon retirement was named Vicar for Pastoral Care of Clergy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Church, 1057 Main St., Hingham, MA on Friday, May 4 from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning May 7 at 11am in the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Church, 1057 Main Street, Hingham, MA. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury, will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fr. Condon's memory to St. John's Seminary, c/o Director of Giving, 127 Lake Street, Brighton, MA 02135.
