Stanley Michael Zimny Jr. (NOVEMBER 5, 1942 – APRIL 10, 2018)
Stanley Michael Zimny, 75, of Rochester, passed away Tuesday April 10, 2018.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife Carol of 52 years; his children Jennifer (Doug) DeLong and Matthew (Darlene) Zimny; his grandchildren Natalie, Katie, Alexis, and Maria; and his brother Eric Zimny and sister-in-law Elizabeth Smith. Stanley was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Martha (Cloer) Zimny and his brother Glenn Zimny.
Stanley was born the son of Stanley Michael Sr. and Martha (Cloer) Zimny in Augusta, Georgia on November 5, 1942. He graduated from Clairmont High School in San Diego, California in 1960 and followed in his father’s steps, earning his bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Stanley married Carol Smith on January 29, 1966 in San Diego, CA and after leaving the Navy he joined EDS Corporation where he worked until retirement.
Stanley was a long time member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester where he was active in the Men’s Ministry, Stephen Ministry, and youth groups. He liked backpacking, the outdoors, baseball, and his family. Stanley was proud of his Navy heritage.
Stanley’s family will welcome all to memorial visitation on Thursday May 3rd, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in Rochester, Michigan. The following day, Friday May 4th, 2018, a memorial gathering will be held from 10:30am until the time of memorial service at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist church, located at 620 Romeo Rd in Rochester Michigan.
