Caroline Elizabeth Radja  (June 24, 1933 - March 30, 2018)

Caroline Elizabeth Radja, age 84, died unexpectedly on March 30, 2018. She was born in San Pedro, CA, on June 24, 1933, to Floyd and Nell Gould. She was one of many military dependents who left Pearl Harbor before its attack, leaving behind her Navy father who luckily survived the attack as his ship was not in the harbor at the time. She grew up in southern California and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from San Diego Junior College.

As a Navy wife she traveled the country as well as the world. Stationed in Taiwan in the 50s, she was able to tour much of Southeast Asia. States side, she lived in San Diego, CA; Vallejo, CA; Annandale, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; and Vienna, VA. She was very outgoing and loved to meet new people and make friends where ever she went.

Carol’s interests included Bridge, bowling, and being a voracious reader. She loved to brag about her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very devoted to her children, participating as a scout leader in Girl/Boy Scouts, taking them to sport practices and games, and serving as a chaperone for overnight trips.

Carol is survived by her husband of 63 years, Captain James Radja (ret); daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Gary McCurdy of Las Vegas, NV; son and daughter-in-law James and Leesa Radja of Owings Mill, MD; son and daughter-in-law Gregory and Dorothy Radja of Bristow, VA; and daughter Melinda Radja of Vienna, VA; her grandchildren Robyn and her husband Jermaine Perkins, Jacob Radja, and Lauren and her husband Brian Vickery; step-grandchild Matthew Orr; great-grandchildren Marlowe Vickery and Ava Perkins; and step-great-grandchild Ardennes Vickery. She is also survived by her sister Yvonne and her husband Dennis Dilworth of Camarillo, CA.

A viewing for Carol is scheduled at Money and King Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, April 5, 2018.. A service is scheduled at Saint Mark's Catholic Church in Vienna, VA, on Friday, April 6th at 11am. She will be interred at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
