Patricia F. Henson, age 84, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Poets Walk in Warrenton, VA. She was born on July 23, 1933 in Danville, VA to the late Benjamin L. and Virginia Louise (Thompson) Foley. Predeceased by her parents; her husband John Morton Henson and her daughter: Kyle Virginia Williams. Pat was raised in Danville VA. She attended George Washington High School graduating in 1951. In her youth she enjoyed horseback riding and other "Southern Belle" activities. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg VA where a friend set her up on a blind date with a Naval Academy Midshipman, John M. (Mort) Henson. Pat and Mort were married in 1953 at the US Naval Academy and so began their life long journey. Pat and Mort traveled from port to port establishing and re-establishing their household in California, Florida (Steve's birth), Hawaii (Pam and Chris' births), California, Virginia (Kyle's birth), California, Hawaii, Virginia and Wisconsin. Pat was very active in bringing up her children (early on Pat used the piercing call of a Bosons whistle to call them in for dinner). Pat ensured that her children were well prepared for school, sports, church and productive adult lives. Pat was also engaged in various activities of their local Episcopal Church, and in supporting other Navy wives and their families during times of deployment. At retirement Pat and Mort relocated to North Carolina where they enjoyed playing bridge and golf, spending time at the beach with family and friends and seeing the world from the deck of various cruise lines. Mort's death in 2010 was followed by Pat's relocation to Assisted Living in Northern Virginia in 2012. Survivors include three children: Steven Henson and wife Cynthia of Nokesville, VA, Pamela Henson Desmond of Charlottesville, VA and Christopher M. Henson of San Diego, CA; son-in-law: Johnny William of Buxton, NC; grandchildren: John C. Henson, Hunter J. Henson, John L. Williams, Shane M. Henson, Thomas M. Henson, Christopher E. Desmond, Scott A. Henson, Michael G. Desmond, Benjamin J. Williams, Seth C. Henson, Katharine Ruth Williams and Hannah Claire Williams; great grandchildren: Kayden E. Williams, Charlotte L. Henson, Adayah L.P. Williams, Dylan A. Henson and Blair Q. Henson. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Greenwich Presbyterian Church, 15305 Vint Hill Road, Nokesville, Virginia 20181 with Pastor Don Meeks officiating. Interment will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, 320 Pollock Street New Bern NC 28560 with Reverend Courtney H. Dale officiating.
