George E. Peterson, age 87, son of Alice and Captain George Peterson USN Ret., passed away at New London Rehabilitation in Waterford, on March 31, 2018.
George grew up in New London, was a graduate of Bulkley High School, Class of 1949, and the Naval Academy in 1953. George served on a destroyer in the Korean conflict and in submarines in New London and on the west coast. He worked for Shell Oil Co. in San Francisco and in insurance here on the east coast.
George is survived by his brother, Jon Peterson of Waterford; his niece, Karen Rutledge of Haddam; and cousin, Susan Holmes of Falmouth, Maine. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
