Howard L. Sipple, Jr.

On March 15, 2018, Howard L. Sipple, Jr., passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 79.

Mr. Sipple was born in Frankfurt, DE on November 10, 1938, to the late Howard and Mary Sipple. He was the oldest of three boys, and grew up in Milford.

Howard graduated from Milford High School in 1956, and then the Naval Academy in 1960. He honorably served our country for 20 years as an Officer in the U.S. Navy.

He retired in 1980 at the rank of Commander and moved back to his hometown of Milford, DE. Howard then taught chemistry at Milford High School from 1985 to 1999, before retiring a second time.

Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, shipmate, teacher, mentor, friend, Mason, and Lion. He enjoyed sailing, reading, walking, model railroads, camping, spending time with his family, and sitting on the deck of his house at Slaughter Beach with his wife counting the ships in Delaware Bay.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard L. Sipple, Sr. and Mary (Fisher) Sipple, and his brothers, Jay G. Sipple and Alfred Sipple.

Howard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise (Grove) Sipple; his two sons, Howard "Larry" Sipple, III and his wife Krys (Hartz) Sipple, and Christopher L. Sipple and his wife Bonnie (Marvel) Sipple; two grandkids, Kate Sipple and Ryan Sipple; two step grandkids, Josh Millman and his wife Danielle (Passwarters) Millman and Kristine (Millman) Melson and her husband Chuck Melson; and four step great grandkids, Shae Smith, McKenzee Melson, Kayleigh Melson, and Lucas Melson.

The family will receive visitors at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 North Church St., Milford, from 11AM - 1PM on Saturday, March 24th, with a funeral at 1PM. Interment will follow at Barratt's Chapel. Immediately following burial, a reception will be held at Milford Senior Center 3:30 - 5:30.
