Lini McCarthy, 54, passed away November 5, 2017 in Juneau, Alaska at Bartlett Regional Hospital of natural causes. Lini was born February 25, 1963 in Yonkers, New York to Ursula Carmen McCarthy and James Vincent. Her siblings are Adam C. McCarthy, Michael T. McCarthy and Andrew J. McCarthy. Lini also had three cats: Clyde, Reno and Chance. Lini grew up in Washingtonville, NY and also Buckhannon, WV. Lini graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1988, serving in the US Navy from 1982 until 1994. She loved exploring the world; she had lived in Pensacola, FL, Virginia Beach, VA, Seattle, WA, Gustavus & Juneau, AK. Lini also loved suba diving, surfing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and rescuing animals and people. Her passion for travel and the outdoors had shown while working at the National Park Service – Glacier Bay. Previously Lini was employed with US Navy and Homeland Security.
Lini is preceded in death by her parents James V (March 1971) and Ursula C (July 2005) McCarthy; her dogs: Dixie, Carbo, Maya, and Phoebe, her cats: Jesse and Koli Koli and also Paco the Parrot.
Lini’s passion for life was only exceeded by her commitment and passion to help others. A true lover of life and the outdoors she lived by personal code of leaving people, animals and places better than she found them. Lini pursued her dreams by challenging herself to break down barriers and explore new places. She was a blessing to everyone she met and found her greatest joy in helping others achieve their dreams, often providing the spark and confidence people needed to get started. All she ever asked for as payment was for people to pay it forward and help someone else while expecting nothing in return. Her light will be missed on this earth, but she will be visible in the stars and aurora for those left behind to see her and smile in remembrance.
A memorial service will be held on February 25, 2018; the time and location will be determined at a later date. Lini will be inurned at the Kensico Cemetery Valhalla, NY details to be determined.
