North Carolina Triangle Chapter Trustee

George Lipscomb is the owner of Goldwing Services, LLC, which specializes in consulting and technical services for highly regulated industries such as nuclear power and commercial aviation. Core business expertise includes regulatory compliance, software quality assurance, supply-chain cyber-security, internal/supplier auditing and training program development. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Subcommittee on Software Quality Assurance and frequently provides training in large conference settings. 

George’s multiple careers began in the military where he directed technical projects for the Naval Research Laboratory, created software for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and is an IEEE-published author. He is a retired navy and Delta/Northwest Airlines instructor pilot with 7000 hours experience flying S-3B, DC-9 and DC-10 aircraft.  He also is a former federal servant having retired from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission where he was a lead quality assurance inspector, expert witness, and licensing technical reviewer in the Office of New Reactors. His educational background includes advanced degrees in electrical engineering and business administration.

George is a lifetime member of the USNA Alumni Association and a former USNA Blue and Gold Officer helping attract quality students from North Carolina’s Research Triangle area. He currently serves as a director in the Triangle Alumni Chapter, one of the association’s fastest growing chapters, and supports student outreach activities at North Carolina State University. George and his wife Karyen are longtime residents of the Raleigh/Durham Area, love to travel, and are avid professional hockey and college football fans.
