Tim Wolf '87

Upper Midwest Chapter Trustee

Raised in the Midwest (Wisconsin, then South Dakota), Tim graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with the outstanding Class of 1987.

Tim is a lifetime member of the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and a member of the Naval Academy Foundation’s President’s Circle donor society. He has served as Class President, Secretary and Fundraiser for the Class of 1987. During his six-year tenure on the Foundation staff, Tim led the Class Giving, Annual Giving and Planned Giving programs.

Currently, Tim serves as Director, International Development at the University of Minnesota (U of MN) Foundation. There, he leads the University’s program to engage donors, alumni, friends and other supporters outside the United States and to secure valued philanthropic resources that benefit the University’s mission and its students. Tim joined the U of MN Foundation staff in December 2012 after working in successively more senior development roles at Georgetown University and the Naval Academy Foundation.  His professional career in higher education development comes after practicing law in Washington, DC and serving on active duty (1987-1994).

As a U.S. Navy surface warfare officer, Tim served aboard USS HEWITT (DD 966), home ported in San Diego and Yokosuka, Japan.  Subsequently, he transferred to Washington, DC, where he served as a Joint Staff Intern with the J-8 Directorate. Tim’s next assignment was with the Bureau of Naval Personnel. While in Washington, Tim was also fortunate to serve as a White House Military Social Aide.

He has earned academic degrees from the U.S. Naval Academy, Georgetown University and The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law.
