The U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation (USNA AA&F) was honored to host the 48th Annual Joint Service Academy Alumni Executives Conference (JSAAEC) at our brand new Fluegel Alumni Center. The successful two-day event held various sessions and networking opportunities, discussing shared challenges and best practices among senior alumni executives from the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association, West Point Association of Graduates, U.S. Air Force Academy Association of Graduates, U.S. Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Association, and the Royal Military College Club & Foundation.

The conference highlighted the importance of collaboration, even among competitive institutions such as the Army and Navy. Major takeaways included innovative strategies for alumni engagement, effective fundraising techniques, and methods to enhance support for current cadets and midshipmen and alumni. Our guests truly valued the opportunity to share new ideas and strengthen collective efforts, with a goal of establishing professional relationships that will continue to grow and strengthen beyond our Annapolis event.

We discussed a wide range of topics, including the continued expansion of digital communication platforms like podcasts, websites, and magazines; foundational topics such as fundraising with current midshipmen and cadets; and honoring lost classmates by placing their names on sports jerseys. We also explored engagement opportunities through roadshows, larger reunions, and chapter meet-ups, as well as addressing the growing financial and IT needs with effective spending and clear communication.

The discussions and collaborations we have here not only address our current challenges but also pave the way for stronger relationships and innovative solutions that will benefit all our academies," said USNA AA&F President and CEO Jeff Webb '95.

About:

JSAAEC first formed in 1977, when the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, and the U.S. Air Force Academy initiated an annual meeting of senior executives of their respective alumni associations to discuss issues of common interest and share best practices. A few years later, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and Royal Military College Club & Foundation joined the group.

The annual conference is usually hosted on a rotational basis at the site of one of the members.
