Obituary (FL): Paul Frederick Peters '52

Paul Frederick Peters, 97, Commander, U.S. NAVY, RETIRED, of St. Petersburg, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie "Roxie" Peters; he is survived by stepson, James "Terry" Clements, Alexandria, VA; numerous nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. CDR Peters joined the navy upon graduating from high school and, while serving, earned a fleet appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD; graduating in the class of 1952. He retired from the Navy after twenty years of service. A veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for service during the latter. While on shore duty in Washington, D.C., attending evening classes, CDR Peters earned a master's degree in science, technology, and public policy at George Washington University, and then upon retiring from the Navy, a law degree at the Washington College of Law, American University. He then entered private law practice in northern Virginia and, subsequently, served on the legal staff of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the staff of trade associations in the Washington area.

Services to be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga, NY (date and time TBD).
