The course set by Alumni Association founders in 1886 rings true today as the Alumni Association serves and supports the United States, the Naval Service, the Naval Academy and its alumni:

› by furthering the highest standards at the Naval Academy;
› by seeking out, informing, encouraging and assisting outstanding, qualified young men and women to pursue careers as officers through the Naval Academy;
› by initiating and sponsoring activities which perpetuate the history, traditions, memories and growth of the Naval Academy and bind alumni together in support of the highest ideals of command, citizenship and government.

With a primary focus on engagement, the Alumni Association promotes informed advocacy for today’s Naval Academy and Brigade of Midshipmen among its many constituents—alumni, parents and friends.

Our Association, governed by the Board of Trustees, keeps its more than 65,000 members informed through a network of 102 chapters around the world, about 76 active class organizations, and 80 parent clubs. Advisory groups include: Council of Class Presidents (COCP) and International Chapter Officer Forum (ICOF).

In May 2021, the serving Chair, Mid-Atlantic Region Trustee and Western Region Trustee will complete their current terms of office. The serving Chair, ADM Samuel Locklear ’77, USN (Ret.), and the serving Mid-Atlantic Region Trustee, CAPT Dale Lumme ’80, USN (Ret.), are eligible to serve an additional term. The serving Western Region Trustee, CDR Steve Hall ’75, USN (Ret.), will have completed two terms of office and will, therefore, be ineligible for further service on the board.

Although ADM Samuel Locklear is eligible for another three-year term, he is willing to serve beyond his current term until May 2022. His nomination, with this one year term will be considered along with any other nominations for the Chairman position.

Section 4.5(b) of the Bylaws states as follows: “Any regular member may propose candidates to the nominating committee to be considered for the positions of the Chair, Vice-Chair, and regional trustee.”

A nominating committee has been formed pursuant to Section 4.5(a) of the Bylaws to find and recommend to the Board a candidate for the Chair position and one or more nominees for the two Regional Trustee positions.

Proposed candidates must be regular members of the Alumni Association who have expressed a willingness to serve as a Trustee. Proposed candidates for the Regional Trusteeships must reside in the region they intend to serve.

In order to improve our commitment to better Alumni inclusion on the Board of Trustees we hope this call for nominations inspires you to become more involved and champion diversity.
