Thomas O. Murray Jr. (September 16, 1941 - April 27, 2018)
Thomas O. Murray, Jr., 76, of Bristol, passed away Friday April 27, 12018 at his home. He was born September 16, 1941 in Upper Darby, PA to Thomas O. & Anne Curtis (McGraw) Murray, Sr.
On May 4, 1968 in Richmond, Virginia he married Brenda Wilson. She survives along with 2 children, Brant Thomas (Keili) Murray of Pittsburgh, PA, Shannon Nicole (Donald) Strick of Bristol, IN; 2 grandchildren, Cole Thomas Strick and Quinn Kathryne Strick; 2 brothers, Michael (Judy) Murray of Yellville, Arkansas and Peter (Mary) Murray of Burbank, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathryne Stafford.
Thomas graduated from high school in 1960 and from the US Naval Academy in 1964. He received a Master’s Degree from the US Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA and a PhD from the University of Maryland. Tom was an instructor at the US Naval Academy for 4 years, a professor at Lynchburg College for 22 years and served as Civilian Analyst at Fort Lee for 4 years. Tom served in the US Navy from 1964-1985 and retired as a Lieutenant Commander.
In keeping with his wishes cremation will take place and his cremains will be placed in columbarium at the US Naval Academy at a later date.
