'70's Classes

Jackson ’79 is a respected leader whose career is defined by service, business acumen and community impact. After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1979, Jackson embarked on a successful career as a Naval officer. Over a military career spanning two decades, he held key leadership roles in the U.S. Navy, where he developed expertise in operations, logistics, and team management while serving at sea and in strategic shore assignments. Following his military retirement, Jackson transitioned into the corporate sector. He spent over 15 years in private industry, where he applied the discipline and leadership skills honed in the Navy to various management and executive positions. In these roles he was known for building strong teams and improving organizational processes. His combined experience in military and corporate arenas – totaling more than 35 years – has given him deep insights into leadership best practices and strategic planning.

Now in a phase of giving back, Jackson directs much of his energy toward philanthropic and community service endeavors. He is a driving force behind Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB), a nonprofit organization based in Annapolis that provides sailing opportunities to people with disabilities, wounded warriors, and disadvantaged youth. In this capacity, Jackson contributes his leadership and operational expertise to expand CRAB’s outreach and impact, helping to open the joys of sailing and the Chesapeake Bay to communities that have historically had limited access. Jackson also remains closely connected to the Naval Academy through his role as a Trustee of the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation since 2013. In this position, he assists in fundraising and stewardship efforts to support the Academy’s mission, including scholarships, athletic programs and strategic initiatives.

As the 1970s decade representative on the Alumni Association Board of Trustees, Jackson serves as a vital link between the Academy and the alumni of his era. His broad professional background and nonprofit leadership experience make him a thoughtful contributor to board discussions, especially on matters of alumni engagement and service to the community. He is passionate about ensuring that the Alumni Association’s programs remain inclusive and beneficial to all graduates. Jackson’s collaborative leadership style and commitment to service exemplify the core values of the Academy, and he is dedicated to strengthening the bonds among alumni and supporting the next generation of Navy and Marine Corps leaders.
