Hanley ’10 is a dedicated Naval Academy alumnus and Navy Reserve officer who combines technical expertise with a passion for mentorship and service. After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2010 with a degree in an engineering field, Hanley began active duty training in the Navy’s prestigious nuclear propulsion program, where he gained a strong foundation in technical problem-solving and leadership. Transitioning to the Navy Reserve in 2011, he embarked on a parallel civilian career in engineering and technology while continuing to serve part-time as a Naval Intelligence Officer. In his Navy Reserve capacity, Hanley has risen to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, taking on roles such as executive officer of an intelligence unit. He has contributed to important missions, including a mobilization to U.S. Fleet Forces Command where he supported global force management initiatives. In the civilian sector, Hanley has established himself as an expert in acoustical engineering. He worked as a consultant focusing on industrial and architectural acoustics and is currently a technical sales engineer for Larson Davis, where he helps clients implement advanced acoustic measurement solutions.

Beyond his professional duties, Hanley has been an energetic supporter of the Naval Academy’s mission to recruit and develop the next generation of Navy and Marine Corps officers. He has served as a Blue and Gold Officer (Admissions liaison) in the Houston, TX, area since 2011, mentoring countless high school students through the Academy’s rigorous application process and advocating for diverse, high-caliber candidates. His commitment to the Academy is also evident in his volunteer leadership with Alumni Association chapters along the Texas Gulf Coast, where he helps coordinate alumni engagement events and outreach activities.
