2 September 2020 Update:

Based upon an evaluation of current conditions with respect to the COVID pandemic, we will continue the current teleworking protocols and operations as we have been. We will continue to monitor the local, state and national environment along with guidance from the relevant authorities. We will continue to provide updates based upon changing circumstances and conditions as necessary.  For planning purposes and notwithstanding any changes we may announce in the interim, we plan to provide an additional update by the end of October 2020.

We advise all that USNA has issued updated COVID screening procedures for those entering the Yard. Those procedures are contained here and would apply to any person entering the Yard and proceeding to building 274 on Hospital Point (see attached document “USNA COVID Screening 8.5.2020”).

As we gradually and safely implement a Phase 1 re-opening of our offices, essential employees continue to practice social distancing and to wear masks while working at 274 or at the Ogle Complex including 49 House and the Cottage.

We will update additional changes, to all staff, as we develop additional requirements for ensuring the safest working environment possible as we navigate our operations through the current COVID pandemic.

In summary, our Phase 1 office re-opening approach will continue to be conservative and cautious. Our guiding principle is to be sure that we are not exposing our staff to COVID related health issues.  We will continue to work closely with Yard staff to continue our support of the Academy and to ensure the safety of our staff, guests and the Brigade of Midshipmen.

Below is an updated summary of current COVID office and operating guidelines for our enterprise:

• Our offices will remain closed to the public until further notice (we will update as necessary).

• Ogle Hall Complex will open for essential work tied to the Yard/NAAA fall schedule or Fall Volunteer leader meetings.

• As event plans around the football schedule and/or yard events develop, we will issue more specific and direct guidance around each event inclusive of COVID mitigation protocols driven by the unique circumstances of each event based upon the venue, number of people and other relevant factors which are specific to each event.

• Maryland Avenue offices will remain closed until further notice as guided by updated COOP plans.

• Essential staff working in 274 should confine their physical presence to 274 only to minimize the possibility of contact tracing with the Naval Academy.

• There will continue to be an enterprise wide ban for business travel until further notice.

Other COVID-19 related announcements you should be aware of are as follows:

• Continue to follow CDC Guidelines https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html  on how to protect yourself and your family during this time

We will continue to make the health and safety of our employees, staff and their families our highest priority as we navigate our way through the COVID pandemic. As mentioned above, we will continue to put out communications as conditions change and we will continue to monitor local, state and national conditions on a daily basis.

Please continue to stay safe and take care of your family and loved ones. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns or feedback. We are a team and our entire mission in supporting the USNA and our alumni requires all of us to continue to operate at a higher level than other organizations and to lead by example.
