Dixon ’79 is a seasoned leader with a distinguished career in both naval service and the financial sector. Motivated by a desire to serve, he entered the U.S. Naval Academy in the mid-1970s and graduated in 1979. As a midshipman, he was an active member of the Navy’s heavyweight rowing team, where he learned the importance of teamwork and discipline. Upon commissioning, Dixon embarked on a career as a surface warfare officer, volunteering for the Navy’s nuclear power program – one of the most demanding fields in the service. He excelled in this challenging specialty, completing Nuclear Power School and serving aboard nuclear-powered warships. He undertook four nuclear propulsion tours and achieved the pinnacle of naval leadership with two command-at-sea assignments, guiding crews and managing the operations of complex naval vessels. After more than two decades of active duty, Dixon retired from the Navy, having attained a senior rank and earned the respect of his sailors and peers alike for his steady leadership under pressure.

Transitioning to civilian life, Dixon applied his leadership and management skills to the financial services industry. He joined First Command Financial Services – an organization dedicated to improving the financial well-being of military families – and steadily rose through the ranks. He currently serves as a vice president of Division Operations, where he oversees advisory teams and business development efforts across the Southeast region. In this capacity, he has forged partnerships between First Command and the Naval Academy community, including sponsorship of Academy athletic programs, reflecting his commitment to giving back to his alma mater.

Dixon remains deeply involved with the Naval Academy and its mission. He serves as vice president of the USNA Class of 1979, helping to keep his classmates engaged and connected. He is also a trustee of the Naval Academy Athletic Foundation, where he works to support preparatory education for future midshipmen and enhance athletic excellence at the Academy. Known for his financial savvy and passion for mentorship, Dixon is well-regarded for helping young service members plan their financial futures and for sponsoring midshipmen through the Academy’s foundation programs. His background in nuclear program management and corporate finance makes him an invaluable asset to the Board of Trustees, especially in matters requiring disciplined oversight, strategic financial planning and support for the Academy’s admissions and alumni programs.
