John C. Coppola, MBA, CPA, joined the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation (AA&F) as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (EVP/CFO) in September 2024. John reports directly to the President and CEO as a member of the organization’s senior leadership team, and he oversees the divisions of finance and information technology.
In his role as EVP/CFO, John is charged with ensuring the financial stability and growth of the AA&F, providing sound fiscal management and protection of organizational data and assets. John’s main responsibilities include financial management, budgeting, reporting and strategy, investment oversight, information technology and risk management. John also serves as the staff liaison to both the Joint Finance and Audit Committee (JFAC) and the Joint Investment Committee (JIC) of the Alumni Association Board of Trustees and the Foundation Board of Directors.
Prior to joining the AA&F, John served as vice president for Finance and Administration at Loyola University Maryland, where he reported directly to the President and oversaw the areas of budget and business planning, technology services, human resources, facilities and risk management, financial services, and auxiliary operations. Prior to his time at Loyola, John spent time as a principal at Ellin & Tucker, and the chief financial officer at Archbishop Spalding High School
John earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Loyola University Maryland, and he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Maryland. John serves on the boards of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers (EACUBO) and Archbishop Spalding High School. John is a life-long resident of Severna Park, MD, has two children, ages 13 and 8, and he is a USSF National C Licensed coach with over 25 years of soccer coaching experience at various levels
