Brian DeJarnett '98

Los Angeles Chapter Trustee

Brian DeJarnett is an aerospace executive and proud member of the Naval Academy Class of 1998 and US Naval Test Pilot School Class 131. He is the Global Director of Continuous Improvement and Quality for the $1B+ Fasteners Division of Precision Castparts Corporation, along with serving as a member of PCC’s Technology Council, Quality Council, and Automated Manufacturing Council.

Following graduation, Brian served as the USNA Aerospace Engineering Laboratory Manager before reporting for training as a Naval Flight Officer. After earning his wings of gold, he completed F-14D training at NAS Oceana and joined Fighter Squadron 31 (VF-31) in 2001. As an F-14D RIO and FAC(A), he completed combat cruises with VF-31 on USS Lincoln (CVN-72) and USS Stennis (CVN-74), deploying into Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Southern Watch, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, earning an Air Medal and Navy Commendation Medal for individual valor in combat. Brian was selected to attend the US Naval Test Pilot School and was further selected to be one of 5 members of USNTPS Class 131 to attend graduate education at US Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB. He completed Air Command & Staff College JPME I, earned a dual MS in Aeronautical Engineering and Systems Engineering, was selected to join Sigma Gamma Tau, the national aerospace engineering honor society.

After graduation from Test Pilot School, Brian joined Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23 (VX-23) a led four project teams in the design, development, systems integration, and flight testing of the FA-18 and T-45 aircraft.

During his shore tour, he was selected to augment the Joint Special Operations Task Force as Air Operations & Plans Officer (AIR-3/5) and Electronic Warfare Officer, coordinating Close Air Support missions for 56 Navy SEAL and Army Ranger teams throughout Iraq.  He was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for redefining battlefield tactics for SOF forces, which was credited with creating a 600% increase in mission success.

During his military career, he attained 2,000+ hours in 36 aircraft types and concluded his naval service as a Department Head with Strike Fighter Squadron 11 (VFA-11), deploying on 50-year cruise of USS Enterprise (CVN-65) into Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Enduring Freedom. During this deployment, he was awarded with his fourth Air Medal, which was his second for individual valor in combat.

After leaving the military, he initially joined FMC Technologies, fulfilling various leadership roles spanning the Program Management, Engineering, and Operations functions for deep-subsea automated systems.  At FMC, he was promoted four times within three years and authored a US Patent for an integrated high-speed, multi-phase pump/motor/compressor.  He joined Precision Castparts Corporation in 2018. Brian and his wife Christa have lived in beautiful Orange County, CA since 2014.  He has served as both a Blue and Gold Officer and as Admin Officer of the USNA Alumni Association Los Angeles Chapter since 2017.
