September 11 Remembrance Events
at USNA

Naval Academy midshipmen will participate in the following events as a remembrance of 9/11.  These midshipmen are working with the Midshipman Action Group, which volunteers thousands of hours in the local community and beyond each year.
 
Flags on Stribling:
o   When: Tuesday, Sept. 10, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
o   Where: Stribling Walk at the Naval Academy
o   What: Midshipmen will place 2,977 mini American flags on Stribling walk, to honor those fallen on 9/11.
 
9/11 “Run to Remember”:
o   When: Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 8 a.m. to about 6:30 p.m.
o   Where: The perimeter of the Naval Academy grounds.
o   What: Small groups of midshipmen will run continuously with the American flag in honor of 9/11 lives lost. At 6:25 p.m., the last runners will run through Stribling and into Tecumseh Court.
 
9/11 Reflection and Evening Colors in T-Court:
o   When: Wednesday, Sept. 11, tentatively beginning at 6:30 p.m. (Evening Colors, the daily ceremonial lowering of the American Flag, will take place at sunset.)
o   Where: Tecumseh Court
o   What: At the conclusion of the “Run to Remember” the Commandant and Command Chaplain will host a tribute event at approximately 6:30 p.m. in Tecumseh Court. The guest speaker will be a New York City Firefighter, Lt. John Breen. Lt. Breen served as a first responder in New York City the day of Sept. 11, 2001.
