Navy Athletics - In This Together

From our family to yours, we are all in this together! #UnitedAsOne | #RaiseTheSail

From the Desk of A.D. Chet Gladchuk:

These last few weeks have been some of the most challenging at the Academy and for our coaches, student-athletes, and the NAAA at large. Each day we continue to monitor and address the unpredictable dimensions of the battle our community and nation face regarding the coronavirus. As the NAAA has transitioned to working remotely, I wanted to provide an update on Navy Athletics and how we are addressing this new experience.

As you know, our intercollegiate and club sports programs have been suspended for the academic year and our Superintendent has delayed the return of the Brigade of Midshipmen. The Academy has also implemented online classes. I can assure you that the Naval Academy Leadership team is actively engaged in addressing the implications of this pandemic. I echo Superintendent Buck’s strategic priorities when I say, above all else, we are committed to protecting our midshipmen, staff, and coaches.

With this in mind, please keep our midshipmen student-athletes in your thoughts, especially our 225 first class midshipmen who, like many others, had their seasons end abruptly. It is hard to believe that only a few weeks ago we were in the midst of both the end of the winter season and the start of our spring season with all our teams having championship aspirations. As you would expect, our coaches are continuing to lead their programs and have regular contact with all members of their teams to provide support, guidance, and visionary objectives. They are also preparing on all fronts, and we will be ready when we have the opportunity to return to practicing and competitions hopefully in the late summer and into the early fall.

Please follow and share with others the updates and news from Navy Athletics through our social media platforms and other means of communication we are using to keep all engaged. As we persevere and collectively move forward, please know we are incredibly grateful for your continued loyal support of Navy Athletics, our Navy midshipmen student-athletes and coaches during this difficult time.

We look forward to seeing you at a Navy Athletic contest cheering on our midshipmen once again soon. We are all in this together and always keep in mind, above it all we Expect to Win!

Stay healthy and stay safe.
