Martin 'Marty' Schoenbauer
Martin "Marty" J. Schoenbauer, 66, of Edgewater, MD, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado after suffering a stroke. Marty was born February 19,1953 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota to Quentin and Mildred "Milly" Schoenbauer. He was a graduate of Montgomery High School in 1971, the U.S. Naval Academy in 1975, and the George Washington University in 1981. Marty was a U.S. Naval officer for 20 years and civil servant in the Senior Executive Services of the U.S. Department of Energy for 20 years. He retired for the third time in April 2018 after 4 years at Honeywell. Marty honorably served his country, loved laughing with family and friends, traveling the world, spending countless hours on his sailboat, and relaxing on his porch deck looking out over the Chesapeake Bay. Marty is survived by his wife, Jan (Embretson), children Peter (Ellen) and Joseph (Jessica), 4 grandchildren (Nico, Lionel, Cecilia, Rosie), mother (Milly), and 6 brothers and sisters (Steve, Karen, Greg, Carol, Jean, Dave) and their families. Marty is preceded in death by his father, Quentin. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Arundel Rivers Federation (https://www.arundelrivers.org/) and/or the American Stroke Association (https://www.strokeassociation.org/) An official ceremony will be held at the U.S. Naval Academy later this summer.
