Donald Robert Higgs passed away peacefully on March 25, 2019, in Medi, Pennsylvania. Growing up in Dixon, Don dreamed of becoming a newspaperman, and was well along on that path when the opportunity came to attend the U.S. Naval Academy. His world shifted to the East Coast, as he graduated from the Academy, served in the Navy, and married Jean. Scott and Jody arrived shortly thereafter. Don's background in radar led to a professional career with RCA. The family spent 3-plus years in England, then returned to settle in New Jersey, near an RCA radar engineering facility. Don continued working for RCA until retirement. Don was an avid participant in several sports: cricket, tennis, and racquetball. He loved the sea, and enjoyed captaining our family houseboat. Highly articulate and interested in current events, Don read two newspapers every day, and many magazines, and was an expert crossword puzzle solver. Don had a tender heart and a very generous spirit. He is deeply missed by his wife, Jean, children; Jody and Scott; and all who knew him.
