James "Jim" Rolland Gant (June 21, 1932 – January 25, 2019)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James Gant. James, known to friends as "Jim," passed away on January 25, 2019, at the age of 86 years. A native of San Diego, Jim attended the Naval Academy, graduated in 1957 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and became a navigator on the submarine USS Requin. He was a Submariner until transferring to the Pentagon in 1969. He retired after 20 years and continued on in the private sector, working at Computer Sciences Corporation, EER and MITRE in various program management roles. He is survived by his wife Eleanor Jean of 62 years, Daughter Cindy, Son Brian, and 3 grandchildren; Allen, Jimmy and David. A favorite pastime in the last few years was to show the Friday Night Movies for the folks at the Connor Terrace community in Greenspring Village. He was also active in the Wiii bowling league. A Memorial will be held at 2 pm, on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Chapel in the Greenspring community where he lived in Springfield, Va. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Donations in memory of Jim can be made to American Heart Association.
