Richard H Dolliver  (April 30, 1932 – December 20, 2018)

Richard (Dick) Harold Dolliver, age 86, of Pineville NC, passed away peacefully on December 20th, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 30, 1932 in Conrad, Montana to Harold and Hazel Dolliver. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Jeanne Kildahl, Marlene Zorn and brother Donald Dolliver. Dick is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Betty Nicodemus Dolliver from Takoma Park, Maryland, his brother Robert Dolliver and by 3 children: Rebecca Dolliver (Hudson, NH), Randolph Dolliver (Fuquay, NC), and Harold Dolliver (Ballston Spa, NY); ten grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He graduated with the class of 1957 from the Naval Academy and retired honorably from the Navy as an officer after spending his career as a proud Submariner. As an avid sailor, he and Betty enjoyed navigating the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. He spent years involved with the Boy Scouts of America and loved the outdoors, especially hiking in Glacier National Park, canoeing on Lake MacDonald or walking his beloved dog Dolly. Dick and Betty traveled extensively and were lucky to have lived in and visited some amazing places over the years. Music was a big part of his life. He loved being a member of a barber shop quartet and for those who knew him well, was forever singing and whistling. Dick touched everyone who knew him with his kind heart, quick wit, infectious smile, storytelling and his love of family. He will be deeply missed. He will be interred at the US Naval Academy columbarium in Annapolis, MD in a private ceremony to be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Hospice Care of Charlotte or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
