Obituary (MD): Jeffery Scott Dixon '96

Jeffery Scott Dixon, 44, of Westminster, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at his home. Born on September 6, 1974 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Frazier Dixon and Martha Gould Grande. He was raised in Westminster and attended Westminster High School. He went on to graduate from the United States Naval Academy, with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1996. He then served his 6 year commitment to the Navy, which included a multiyear deployment to the Middle East, aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Stout, included in the USS Enterprise Battle Group. His final assignment was as Engineering Officer aboard the USS Kitty Hawk in Japan. Jeff then left the Navy, with the rank of Lieutenant and went to work for the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. During that time, he also obtained his master's degree from John Hopkins University in Systems Engineering in 2008. He also then began to teach online to Master Degree candidates in Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Surviving in addition to his mother are children William and Alexa Dixon; step father Tov Grande; former spouse Heather Dixon and her parents Joanne and Adolfo Abalos; step-sisters Melissa Dixon, Lisa and husband Gary Saunders and Gabrielle Grande; nephews Tovie and Jack Grande and Gary Saunders; nieces Liliana Rose Grande and Megan Saunders; cousin Michael Hill; and various other family members and friends. The family will welcome friends on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 1 to 4pm with military honors at 3pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster.
