Celebration Of Long Beach Civic Leader Clive Graham's Life Saturday

Grunion Gazette (Long Beach, CA)

Clive Graham was a Long Beach native and spent much of his life giving back to his home town.

Now some of the town will remember him.

Graham died suddenly on Aug. 14 this year. It came as no surprise to those who knew him that he was doing community service when it happened.

He was very active in Kiwanis at local, state and national levels, chairing the Long Beach club, and rising to Lt. Governor on the state level. A 36-year member of First Congregational Church, he served on several committees and acting as a Deacon there.

In the 1980s and ’90s, Graham served on the city's Armed Services Commission and on the YMCA board. He chaired the Buffum-Downtown YMCA's fundraising committee from 1987 through 1990.

A graduate of the United States Naval Academy in 1971, he served during the Vietnamese War, returning to Long Beach in 1981 to take over the family's real estate business.

Graham is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dorianne, his brother, Bret and three nieces and one nephew.

The celebration of life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Grand Event Center. Organizers said to please wear Hawaiian shirts and if you enjoy cigars, please feel free to bring one or two to smoke in his honor.
