Edmond was born in New Orleans, while his father was attending Law School at Loyola University. The early exposure to law had a profound influence upon young Edmond ultimately steering him to a career in law. Edmond graduated in 1941 from Thibodaux College High School. While there, he was active in athletics, playing both football and basketball, performed in the school band, was class president and valedictorian. His achievement in academics earned him a four-year scholarship to Tulane University, where he attended from 1941 through 1943. Edmond next attended the United States Naval Academy, where he played for the varsity squad on the Navy football team securing the Outstanding Lineman Award and receiving Eastern Conference and national recognition for his athletic efforts.

While at the Naval Academy, Edmond's roommate asked him if he wanted to accompany him on a double-date with a girl he had recently met. With some hesitation, Edmond asked why his roommate was so interested in having him tag along, whereby his roommate ultimately confessed that the girl he had asked out on the date insisted that they be chaperoned by another couple. When Edmond met the girl's roommate, who was to serve with him as chaperone, it was love at first sight. Subsequently, Mr. Edmond asked the lovely lady, Jeanne, to be his wife.

After graduating from the Naval Academy in 1946 and securing a reserve commission, Edmond returned to Tulane, entering law school. While in attendance Mr. Edmond also taught honor's courses at Jesuit High School.

Mr. Edmond has had a distinguished career, having been a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, past member of the House of Delegates and a member of the Law Reform Committee. He was the original organizer of the Lafourche Parish Bar Association. He was also a Fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation, Fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and was a chairman of the Notarial Examination Committee for 30 years. Edmond organized First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Thibodaux, which later became Merit Trust Federal Savings Bank and now, Hancock Whitney Bank.

Mr. Edmund organized the Thibodaux Jaycee's, he was the Past President of the Parish Council of St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, past chairman of the Heart Association, organized the Bayou Country Club and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to Mr. Edmond's distinguished career in law and business, he was affectionately known for his integrity, gentle spirit and good humor.
