Obituary (MD): Claudius James Britell '60

Claudius James (Jim) Britell, 80, of Annapolis, passed away after a short illness on Thursday, February 8, 2018, while on vacation with his wife Peggy in Navarre, Florida. Jim was born in Whitefish, Montana, to Claude and Bernedette Britell, on June 10, 1937. Jim traveled the country with his family as part of the military. He finally got roots when he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and was commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1960. After leaving the Corps, he worked in the truck transportation industry and retired as an engineer with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, working in heavy duty truck research. In retirement, he became a tour guide at the Naval Academy. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patricia Wright, and granddaughter, Dahlia. Jim is survived by his wife Peggy and his four children, Tim (Diana) of Falls Church, VA; Martine of Reddick, FL; Andrew (Maureen) of Shady Side; Clare Davis (Mitchell) of Los Angeles, CA; and 5 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, February 19, 2018, at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or America's VetDogs.
