Obituary (VA): Mrs. Dorothy (Peter M. Maloney '52)

Dorothy (Dottie) Maloney, 84, went to be with the Lord Dec. 25, 2017. She was born in Houston, Texas and spent most of her later life in Virginia Beach. Dottie fought a long & hard battle with Alzheimer's disease for 17 years. Not only was she beautiful but strong in spirit.

She had a challenging childhood but managed through strength of spirit to successfully raise 3 daughters and own/operate a successful real estate company, C21 Peddicord Realty. Some of her amazing talents included being a "Head Majorette" in High School, an accomplished figure skater, a golfer with an 80 handicap, and a juggler. She was an avid world traveler and enjoyed life! Dottie was a gentle lady, who loved people, enjoyed humor, and spread happiness to all she met.

Left to cherish memories of her are her beloved husband of 38 years, Peter Maloney, his children Mike Maloney/Kathy, Karen Rech/Dave, along with Dottie's children Vicki Sweet/Bryant Whitehead, Joni Bellis/Bob and was predeceased by her daughter, Terri Morgan. Between them there are 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. (2002 Laskin Rd) between 6 and 8 P.M., Tuesday, January 2, 2018. A Mass of Christian burial will be held in her honor at 1:00 P.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church (on the corner of Great Neck & First Colonial Rd. on January 3rd, 2018. Her casket will be open for viewing between 12:00 and 1:00 P.M.

Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery which will be scheduled in the future. Online condolences may be offered to the family at hdoliver.com.
