Obituary (AZ): Horace Wayne Brandon '54

Posted on 02/02/2018

Horace "Wayne" Brandon

A resident of Sun City West, Arizona, for the past 30 years, Wayne passed away peacefully the evening of January 6, 2018, at Del Webb Hospital.

The son of James Brandon and Callie Fuller, Wayne was born on September 20, 1930, in Jefferson, Texas, and grew up on a farm in Texas.

A 1954 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Wayne then served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot. He went on to work as an Electronics Engineer for Fisher Electronics, Inc., on a variety of sonar and other acoustic projects for the U.S. military in Maryland, Virginia and then San Diego, California, where he continued to work until his retirement. After retiring in 1989, he moved to Sun City West, Arizona, and became an avid clock enthusiast with a keen interest in the Self-Winding Clock Company and their products as well as other "electrical" types of clocks. He enjoyed repairing antique clocks, becoming an active collector himself, and loved to share his knowledge with others. As a member of NAWCC Chapters 46 and 112, he held several officer positions, including President. He always had a story to share and a lesson to offer. He was a pleasure to be around and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Cecile, daughter Pamela Brandon, son Russell Brandon, step-daughters Karen Dales and Shannon and Gabriell Murphy, one grandson and one great grandson.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 6, 2018, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona located at 23029 North Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
