Obituary (FL): William Conrad Roeder '45

William "Bill" Conrad Roeder, 95, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2018 surrounded by family. He was born on September 30, 1922 in Titusville, Pennsylvania to the late William Gottlieb Roeder and Gladys "Roedie" Harrison Roeder. Bill graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1944 as an engineer. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. After returning from serving his country, he went to worked for G.E., first in Schenectady, New York and then in Youngstown, Ohio and Cleveland, Ohio before retiring in 1983 after 38 years of service. He was married to Florence Holst Roeder for 64 years. Bill and Flo have three children, Cathy Roeder of Cape Girardeau, MO; Bill (Jann) Roeder of Johns Creek, GA; & John (Cindy) Roeder Westfield, IN, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Bill and Flo enjoyed seeing the world and made many trips to far flung places. They spent their retirement years living in Ormond Beach, Florida. Flo preceded Bill in death in 2010 and he spent the last seven years of his life making sure the family never forgot her. Their story is a true love story, dating back to their kindergarten days. He is also survived by brother, Richard Roeder of Titusville, PA. and proceeded by his sister, Betty Roeder of Bay Village, Ohio and Joseph Roeder of Abilene, TX. A Service of Remembrance and inurnment alongside Flo, will be held at a later date in Titusville, Pennsylvania.
