Norma Jean Hays (December 8, 1932 - November 25, 2017)

Norma Jean Hays, a resident of San Diego was born on December 8, 1932 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Hobert and Clara Boomer, a little sister to three older brothers; Marshall (deceased) Hobert and George. She passed away November 25 just short of her 85th birthday.In 1954 she married a Navy Officer, Will hays and started her life as a Navy wife, moving to Long Beach California. During these 29 years with the Navy, she moved 33 times to make a home for her family in such locations as California, Washington, Boston, New York, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington DC, Hawaii, Japan and finally San Diego. She dedicated her life to her family, and the young wives of Navy men stationed with her husband.Norma engaged in learning other cultures, and enjoyed traveling. She used her sewing machine, making clothes for herself and children. More recently she was involved with quilting. Norma is very proud of her children who are now professionals and fully employed. The grand children also gave her joy, Summer Ann in Philadelphia James Ryan in Richmond Virginia, and Will in Kansas City.Norma is survived by her husband, Will, her three children; Richard living in Virginia, Jennifer living in Nebraska, and Sandra living in San Diego. Her daughter-in-law Jane Hays, three Grand children Summer Ann Hays, James Ryan Hays, and William Kent Hays; and her two brothers Hobert and George Boomer residing in Texas.. She will be missed but now resides in a Better Place.A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on December 9, 2017 at 11 AM at the Veterans Museum at Balboa Park. Gifts may be to the Veterans Museum or the San Diego Armed Services YMCA.
