4Mar14 - Audrey Louise Kruse, 83, passed into the loving arms of her Lord on Monday, February 24, 2014. Audrey was born to the late William and Louise Klod on January 3, 1931 in Weehawken, NJ. Although she spent the last 10 years in Virginia, New Jersey was always home to her. She was predeceased by her two brothers, a sister, a son, and her husband, LCDR Charles H. Kruse, Jr (married 6/7/53-2/20/63). She was a devoted Navy widow. She was a member of St Michael Lutheran Church in VA Beach, VA; however, her 41 years at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Sparta, NJ remained a cherished memory.
Audrey is survived by her four daughters and their spouses- Cheryl and Neil Rondorf of VA Beach, VA; Janeen and George Wadzita of VA Beach, VA; LaVonne and Scott Ackerman of Middletown, PA; Wendy and Michael Weiss of Aledo, TX; her son, David and Loretta Kruse of Novelty, OH; her 16 grandchildren; 3 great-granddaughters; and lots of extended family members and friends, of special note- Doris Quinn, Charlotte Wolfang, and Dorothy M. Goerig.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 7, 2014 at St Michael Lutheran Church in VA Beach. An additional service will be in NJ at a future point. Her faith sustained her and she was quick to tell you she trusted her Lord; the Gospel of John was her favorite. She was known for her love of the color blue, coffee and ice cream. She loved to be with people and had many interests- playing tennis, bridge and Pounce, dancing, bowling, ice skating, sailing, waterskiing, swimming in Lake Mohawk, and of course, substitute teaching (1969-1998) in Sparta for 29 years.
The family wishes to thank Lisa, Elizabeth, Gail, and Patty for all their help as well as multiple friends and local facility caregivers that helped her. In lieu of flowers- memorial donations can be made to: www.alz.org; www.FoodForThePoor.org; to SHS PSTO, 70 W. Mountain Rd , Sparta, NJ 07871.
