Dale Lumme is a maritime advisor and strategic planner at The Spectrum Group - Washington’s premier strategic advisory firm helping businesses where they need to be – at the strategic interface between business and government. Lumme is the President of the Navy League of the United States, National Capital Council, and Corporate Secretary of the Naval Historical Foundation. Lumme is the past Chairman of the National Maritime Policy Committee, and the former National Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Navy League of the United States, a civilian organization founded in 1902, dedicated to supporting the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and the U.S.-flag Merchant Marine, and educating American citizens and elected officials about the importance of Maritime Security.

Lumme is a retired naval aviator with multiple deployments flying the Light Airborne Multi-Purpose Systems (LAMPS) MK-I, SH-2F and MK-III, SH-60 B aircraft embarked on Frigates, Destroyers and Cruisers, along with deployed assignments with Cruiser Destroyer Group Three (CCDG-3), embarked in USS Enterprise, and Aide de Camp duties to the Commander Seventh Fleet, embarked in USS Blue Ridge.  Lumme served with the Operations Directorate (J-3) at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and after aviation command served as the Executive Assistant to the Commander-In-Chief Atlantic Fleet, and Deputy Executive Assistant  to the Chief of Naval Operations. His last active duty assignment was at the Office of Legislative Affairs, serving as the Staff Director of the Secretary of the Navy House of Representatives liaison office.  After Naval Service, Lumme spent 6 years with Alliant Techsystems Inc. (now Orbital ATK), as an aviation and maritime operations business development and government relations corporate level executive.

In recognition of his numerous sea duty deployments, Lumme is authorized to wear personal, campaign and Battle Efficiency Awards, Meritorious and Navy Unit Commendations, but is most proud of the command and unit commendations because they represented the hard work, sacrifice, and synergistic accomplishments of all ship, command, and squadron mates.  Lumme has been awarded the Distinguished Civilian Public Service Medal, Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of the Navy, Superior Civilian Public Service Medal. Lumme is a director on several Boards, including Remember My Service – dedicated to honoring the legacy of service members, the Association of the U.S. Navy, Global Nexus Alliance – focusing on international security and engagement alliances, and as a national director on the Board of Directors for the Navy League of the United States.  Dale Lumme is a native of Madison, Ohio and is an avid [and frustrated] Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers, and yes, still a Cleveland Browns fan.
