ARTICLE I. Name
The name of this organization shall be the Utah Naval
Academy Parent's Club, herein known as UNAPC. The Utah Naval Academy
Parents' Club is a non-profit entity and exists and is governed under
the provisions of the United States Naval Academy.
ARTICLE II. Government
A Board of Directors comprised of its officers shall
govern the UNAPC. The Officers consist of President, Vice President,
and Secretary. Officers shall be elected in June of each calendar
year, and shall take office to coincide with the summer picnic. There
will be four meetings each academic year, which will be open to all
members of the UNAPC.
ARTICLE III. Board of Directors
It will be the responsibility of the Board of Directors
to transact all business in connection with the UNAPC. Decisions regarding
financial expenditures shall be made after posting of requests for
the approval/disapproval of said expenditures to all members of the
UNAPC. The Board of Directors will set a calendar for each academic
year.
1. The President will be responsible for setting the
calendar and advising the membership of dates for meetings, social
gatherings, and other events. The President shall take responsibility
for the financial end of all business transactions. It will be the
responsibility of the President to post a financial report with each
monthly newsletter.
2. The Vice-President will be responsible for follow
up with all members and assisting the President in planning and executing
all meetings, social gatherings, and other events. The Vice-President
will act as President in the absence of the President.
3. The Secretary will be responsible for editing and
posting the monthly newsletter on the UNAPC website, and mailing copies
of each newsletter to those members who do not have access to email.
The Secretary will be responsible for collecting a yearly membership
fee from each member.
ARTICLE IV. Membership
Utah Naval Academy Parents' Club membership shall
be open to parents of midshipmen currently attending the United States
Naval Academy. Yearly membership fees are $25.00, due and payable
by September 1st of each academic year. Failure to pay membership
fees shall terminated a parent's membership in the UNAPC. Two letters
requesting membership fees shall be sent before termination of a member.
Honorary membership shall be given to each past President
of the UNAPC for the period of one year. Past Presidents may remain
members after that time by paying the aforementioned $25.00 membership
fee.
Honorary membership shall be extended to all current,
active Utah Blue and Gold Officers.
ARTICLE V. Meetings and Activities
Meetings of the UNAPC shall be held four times each
academic year, and shall coincide with the following:
June Summer "Welcome Aboard" picnic for
all current midshipmen and their parents, and all new appointees for
the upcoming year and their parents
March/April Mid-Gathering for any midshipmen and their
parents who are home for spring break, and all interested candidates
and their parents who are investigating and/or in the application
process for admission to the United States Naval Academy, and all
Blue and Gold Officers.
October Preparation and mailing of Halloween "Goblin
Goodies" to all midshipmen whose parents are members in good
standing of the UNAPC.
February Preparation and mailing of Valentine treats
to all midshipmen whose parents are members in good standing of the
UNAPC.
Other Activities shall include: The Naval Academy
Alumni Association annual summer picnic, the Army/Navy Game party
in conjunction with the Alumni Associations from both the Naval Academy
and West Point, and the Inter-Service Academy ball held in December
of each year. Every third year it is the responsibility of the UNAPC
to sponsor the Inter-Service Academy Ball.
ARTICLE VI. Acceptance
These by-laws shall be adopted by the membership of
the UNAPC upon a 2/3 majority vote by the members of the UNAPC. Requests
for amendments, corrections and/or changes shall be addressed to the
Board of Directors. These by-laws shall remain in effect until amended
or changed.
